Professor Dike, Chief Feddy Nziahu task Umuezeala Uba to live up to expectations.

Two prominent elders and stakeholders in Umuezeala Uba Umuaka have tasked their fellow kinsmen to always live up to their expectations and responsibilities and fully face the challenges of being the first son of Uba. This call was made a couple of days ago when Umuaka Times engaged the two elder statesmen in a discussion about the developments in Uba especially on the construction of new buildings at Hilltop Primary School Uba.

While holding talks with Umuaka Times early last week, Professor Dike seriously lamented that the financial performance of Umuazeala in the ongoing rehabilitation project at Hilltop Primary School Uba Umuaka is absolutely below expectations. The retired high profile professor of economics disclosed that while seeking the strategy to employ in resolving the issue, he personally met some stakeholders in Umuezeala such as Chief Ifeanyi Duruojiaku, Hon Tony Duru, Chief Luke Anunuso and Chibuike Okunwa to motivate their people to contribute to the ongoing Hilltop project.

“I want to ask my fellow Umuezeala people a question; where are you? What is holding you people from the front burners? You can’t come and claim the first son only when it is time to enjoy but when it is time to work nobody comes.”

Professor Dike whose chieftaincy title name is Ebubedike ended his talk by urging Umuezeala men and women to donate generously towards the Uba projects. “It does not necessarily need to be N1million naira. You can donate even N50, 000. I retired in 2009 but I was still able to donate N1 million. The reason was not that I am rich but it was something that needed to be done.”

Chief Feddy Nziahu in his own speech admitted that Umuezeala people are not living up to her expectations but went further to blame it on lack of adequate information to the people. Hear him. “We should develop a proper method of information strategy so that anytime there is a call for Uba people, Umuezeala must have to be adequately represented.”

Chief Nziahu further blamed those handling the affairs of Umuezeala oer poor performances and urged them to work harder to make the community retain its position as the first son of Uba. Chief Nziahu finally expressed optimism that things will soon change positively for Umuezeala people.”

Another fellow who made contributions during the discussions was Mr Uche Dike, a youth activist from Umuezeala. According to Dike who is the technical adviser of Father Eburuaja FC, “Even in Umuezeala projects, Umuezeala people do not meet up to their expectations. Can you see the hall we started building since last year? Do you remember the controversies that greeted the buying of the property before we started the building project?”

Uche Dike blamed the youths for not doing the needful in positioning Umuezeala properly in the affairs of Uba. “Can you imagine that we are still struggling to establish the security outfit we first started a couple of years ago? We must wake up from our slumbers.”

On the reasons the community is not meeting up to her expectations, all the persons who spoke during the discussions agreed that it has nothing to do with poverty or poor financial inflow but Professor Dike described it as lack of social consciousness, which seems similar to what Chief Nziahu described as poor information dissemination. Be that as it may, Frantz Fanon, a Francophone and Afro-Caribbean political philosopher and Marxist, once wrote, “Every generation must out of relative obscurity discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it.”

Umuezeala has indeed discovered its roots and mission, it is left for her to either fulfill it or betray it.
