SANship: More honours for Chief Marcel Duru.

Several honours have continued to grace the “SANship” award given to Chief Nnodim Marcellinus Duru (SAN), a high profile Kano lawyer. From the day the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) announced the list of 87 legal practitioners who were being considered for the honour, congratulatory messages started to flood the communication channels of the Kano based attorney who is a former chairman of Kano branch of Nigerian Bar Association NBA and the principal attorney, M.N. Duru and Company.
After the pronouncement that Chief Marcel Duru, the Akajiugo 1 of Umuaka Imo State has become a SAN, more honours, receptions and awards followed. Knights and Ladies of St Mulumba Kano sub council organized an end of the year thanksgiving and award dinner in honour of the legal luminary. The event was held at KSM Chambers Airport Road Kano.
High profile personalities who made the event a success included Most Reverend John Namaza Niyiring (OSA), the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Kano. The highly respected churchman was the chief host of the event.
Special guests of honour included Sir Steve Adehi SAN, (KCSS KSS, KSM). Bro Michael Anyaloko (Worthy Grand Knight).
Local affairs correspondents of Umuaka Times who spoke to the “new silk” confirmed that the event was a huge success. Another honour that came to Akajiugo was a congratulatory letter which came from Imo State Indigenes Association (IMSIA) Kano State.
The letter which was signed by the president of the organization Chief Christ Ubatu (Ebube Akokwa) and the secretary general Mr Basil Okechukwu Osuji, the organization expressed her great joy and gratitude to God for the elevation of one of the most illustrious sons of Ndi Igbo in Kano.
On the last call for now, Umuaka Times, (www.umuakatimes.com), an online pro-democracy and human rights advocacy weekly news media outfit based in Imo State last week, announced that Chief Nnodim Marcellinus Duru (SAN) has won her 2024 Man of the Year Award. A later date will be announced for the legal luminary to collect the award.
For now, many organizations and individuals have identified with Chief Duru in his successful law practice.
