“Sir Henry Oguike was a man of peace and charity.” Hon Sydney Okpoko.
2 min readThe president of Akah Aborigine Association South Africa, Hon Sydney Ikechukwu Okpoko has described the late Sir Henry Oguike who passed away in a South African hospital as a man who stood for peace and charity when he was alive. While speaking with the South African correspondent of Umuaka Times in South Africa, Sir Okpoko, a Catholic Knight of Dagama KDG, narrated how the late Oguike had always helped the organization and several Akalites based in South Africa in times of their need.”I remember during the Covid19 lockdown here in South Africa when there was total hunger, he brought out a large sum of money and announced that any Akalite who was in need of assistance should come forward for it.”
Okpoko also confirmed to Umuaka Times that the late attorney was the legal adviser of Akah Aborigine Association South Africa, and used his position to help the group and other people, even those outside Umuaka.
“As a man of peace, he never gave our group any wrong legal advice and he was always assisting some of our members who fell into trouble without collecting a dime.”
Before Sir Sydney Okpoko concluded the chat he had with Umuaka Times, he seriously lamented that the death of Sir Oguike has been able to throw all the Akalites and Igbo citizens in South Africa into a deep grief and further created a big vacuum that cannot be easily filled by his family and friends. He prayed God to grant his family members and his friends the fortitude to bear the loss and accept his soul in His paradise.
