Anambra: Soludo may become the next gov.
1 min readLast week, the former governor of Nigeria’s apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, was declared the winner of the governorship primary election organized by his political party, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) held on Wednesday, June 23 2021 n Anambra State.
According to the reports released from the APGA primaries, Soludo pulled a total of 740 votes to defeat his closest rival, Hon Okwudili Ezenwankwo, honourable member representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency. Hon Ezenwankwo scored 41 votes in the exercise. The results of the primaries Umuaka Times observed, were announced by the Southwest National Vice Chairman of the party, Deacon Samson Olalere.
As Anambra State is known to be a core APGA state, there are some perceived indications in town that Professor Soludo may eventually become the next governor of the state. APGA has ruled the state for at least 14 years and still counting. A couple of years ago, Soludo also stood for the governorship in the state but eventually lost.
Other political parties such as APC, PDP and Labour Party are seriously in the game to provide the next governor of Anambra State. Only time will tell for who becomes the next governor of the almighty Anambra State.
