3 min readThe burial of the late Mr Cajetan Orisakwe of Ndiuhu Amurie Omanze Isu LGA Imo State was done on December 20, 2024 in his Ndiuhu village. Umuaka Times reporters who arrived at the family compound early enough did not go to the City of David mortuary in Okwudor with the motorcade when it was time to bring home the corpse of the man whom his people so much loved. The reporters decided to stay in the compound in order to get the blow by blow account of activities that greeted the burial of the 66 year old former CBN employee.
At exactly 8:05 am, the motorcade arrived at the family compound of the Orisakwes with the corpse of the man whose demise has brought together people of diverse backgrounds with one mission.
It did not take long time before the masters of the ceremonies who anchored the burial ceremonies announced to the people that it was time for them to start paying their last respect to the body of the man popularly addressed as Dee Caje. This was after his casket was laid in state in one of the rooms in his house. The immediate family members, extended family members and more, took time to see the remains of their brother, uncle, father and husband for the last time and wish him good bye.
By the time the first segment of the burial program which was lying in state was over, it was announced to the people that time for the requiem Mass at St Theresa’s Catholic Church had come. In double quick time, most of the persons including kinsmen and women, youths and many others headed for the church service.
The church service did not last long as the officiating priests went straight to the business. During his gospel, the officiating priest extolled the virtues of “Dee Caje” and went further to describe him as a man who was full of smiles always when he was alive. He talked about death and reminded Christians that everyone will surely die one day. According to him, when you live a good life, your life will be a life of glory while those who die in sin require mercy. He went further and sang some songs to support his claims.
Before the church came to an end, the priest called the first son of the late Cajetan Orisakwe, Mr Chibueze Orisakwe to make a speech on behalf of the family. The microphone was then handed over to him and he greeted everybody in the church before he went further to thank all those who abandoned their daily activities and Christmas era and came to mourn with the family.
After the speech, the service came to an end and everyone moved back to the Cajetan Orisakwe family compound for proper interment. About 4 reverend fathers and reverend sisters who were in church during the requiem Mass also came for the final burial rites in the compound of the deceased.
It did not take time before the remains of the late Mr Cajetan Orisakwe were committed to mother earth.
After the burial, one of the daughters of the late Orisakwe took the opportunity to read the biography of her late father. Her diction and the rise and fall of her voice during the presentation of the funeral oration were successful enough to capture the emotions of the people. Someone whispered to Umuaka Times that the little girl reads like a broadcaster. After reading the oration, Umuaka Times reporters made frantic efforts to secure a brief interview with her but the efforts were not successful as she was very busy attending to people.
Despite every other thing, the people who attended the burial ceremony of late Cajetan Orisakwe confirmed that he was a lover education who against all odds trained his children with university education.
