Teenage Akalite plays for Japanese basketball team.

Okoro Nelson Chinedu who is a student of Makigahara Junior High School Yokohama City, Japan has been chosen to represent the school in her basketball team. Umuaka Times correspondent in Japan confirmed that Nelson who is just 12 years old was enrolled into basketball game when he was six and he has been showing deep interest in the game as he improves on weekly basis.

In a brief interview with Umuaka Times, the father of the super brat, Mr Festus Okoro who hails from Uba Umuaka, Nelson has at several tournaments won the Most Valuable Player MVP, for the school. Umuaka Times also confirmed that Nelson who is the only black boy in the school basketball team and in the secondary school also was also selected to represent the school at the national level sports level in the country of Japan.

From what Umuaka Times gathered from the family sources, the selection of Nelson Okoro to represent the state of Yokohama is something deeply joyous because he is the only black boy selected to represent both his state and the country in the basketball. Only 12 players were selected to represent the state, after a tough screening of 35 secondary schools in the state.

Festus Okoro described the financial burden involved in the enrolment of the now famous basketballer as highly challenging. He gave the Almighty God the glory for the success so far achieved by his son and his team mates.

On the education system in Japan, Okoro confirmed to Umuaka Times that the school system in Japan is one of the best in the world. Several Umuaka kids living overseas especially Europe and the Americas, have found their feet in several sporting activities where such opportunities do not exist in Nigeria.
