The dethronement of His Royal Majesty Eze (Dr) Ambassador Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, Eze Ohazurume 1, and the Eze Ndi in the Ga state in Ghana may not come as a surprise to many while to others it was a big shock. Umuaka Times gathered that the diasporan royal father was sacked alongside with some members of his cabinet which include,High Chief Okechukwu Emebolu Onowu Ndigbo Ghana.

Eze Samuel Ekezie Eze Udo – Sempe Chairman, Council of Eze Udos, Ghana. Eze Kenedy Ginikanwa, the Eze Udo – La Nkwantanan. Eze Chuma Okaigbo the Eze Udo Adontenman. Eze Anyin Victor, the Eze Udo – Aflao, Ghana.

Others include Eze Goodluck Otada, the Eze Udo Elect – Ayawaso Traditional Area.Eze Dr. Chinedu Kingsley JP. Eze Igbo and the Oganihu 1 -Central Region. Eze Dr. Dennis Abuchi Oha, the Eze Udo Kasoa -Central Region. Eze Dr. Kingsley Eboh, Eze Udo 1 Ndi Ashiaman. Eze Dr. Tony Ulasi – Okudaa, Eze Udo – Dome-Kwabenya Ibube 1. And the last but not the least, High Chief Harrison Kalu Mba, Chief of Staff – Eze Igbo GH. Hon. Chief Isaac Chigbata J. Ome-Udo Ndigbo GH.

Umuaka Times gathered that the dethronement of the “royal father” has sent conflicting signals among the people of Nigeria and Ghana. Last week, there were reports of protests in Ghana either for or against the move. Many people last week via social media outlets described the move as cultural abomination to sack a royal father while others supported the move. Some social media commentators also saw the move as Ghanaians feeling intimidated by the highly noticeable presence of the Igbo businessmen living in the country.

Some arguments which emerged last week condemned the sacking of the king because according to their popular opinions, Eze Ndi Igbo simply means the leader of the Igbo.

A young Igbo guy who disclosed to Umuaka Times that he does his business between Nigeria and Ghana had this to say. “You see, the Igbo businessmen here are very loud. They have contributed and continue to contribute to the economy of Ghana. I do cross border business and I know what I am telling you. There is nothing wrong having Eze Igbo outside Igboland. Hausa people who live in Igboland have their seriki and the Yoruba too have theirs. The Eze Igbo outside Igboland is a socio-cultural ambassador of the Igbo. That is what it really means.”
