More indications emerged last week about the mathematical excellence achieved by the late Dr of Mathematics Dr Tim Obiwuru. Chika Dike also known as Obiokwe, while holding talks on some certain academic issues with his cousin, Chief Bob Dike about mathematics raised the mathematical brillance of Dr Obiwuru. Bob told him that he (Bob) used to think that he was the highest mathematician among his contemporaries in Umuaka. This view totally changed when he met Tim Obiwuru who eats, drinks and even solves mathematics in his dreams.
While responding to the claim by Chief Bob Dike, Obiokwe laughed, cleared his throat and told Bob.”Sometime ago, I took up this idea of being a good teacher of mathematics with Tim. Do you know what he said to me? What he told me totally made me give him more respect. he said, ‘I don’t teach mathematics, I preach mathematics.’ ”
During his lifetime, Obiwuru saw mathematics as a big source of life. For him mathematics was spiritual and the gift of mathematics he had in many ways helped many students to be what they are today through the mentorship of Obiwuru.
