TJ Ehirm is Imo State Man of the Year 2020.

South African based pharmacist, businessman and high-breed Akalite, Chief T.J. Ehirim has emerged as the Imo State Man of the Year 2020. Chief Ehirim who has a lot of chieftaincy titles which he has acquired over the years from several towns and local governments both in Imo and Anambra States respectively, received this honour from Umuaka Times on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in his country home, in a well attended ceremony organized in his honour. While presenting the award certificate to Chief Ehirim, the Umuaka Times publisher, Mr Darlington Ojy Onwukwe told the audience which had representatives from all the 27 local governments across the state that “the act of naming someone the man of the year is an exclusive duty or right of media houses across the world. On that note, Umuaka Times after a serious consideration, decided to give this honour to Chief T.J Ehirim as the Man of the Year for the State.”
Onwukwe further explained to the people who had gathered from both Nigeria and South Africa that Chief Ehirim who has an ambition to become the next governor of the state has demonstrated deep sense of patriotism over the years as a vibrant and robust youth of the state. “Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you today, a man who has the key to the store house of success in the state as the Imo State Man of the Year.”
Since the announcement of the winner of the award was made public late mid week by Umuaka Times, a storm of conflicting opinions has been generated by some observers and critics in some certain quarters across the state. Some have said the choice of Ehirim by Umuaka Times was political while others claimed that Chief Ehirim bought the award from Umuaka Times. There are also a certain group or groups, endorsing and supporting the award. As at press time last week, many prominent Akalites and other citizens of the state have been reaching out to Chief Ehirim to congratulate him.
Chief TJ Ehirim has been on the front burner of every effort to bring positive change in Imo State. As a youth, he has been crisscrossing both South Africa and Nigeria in search of theories and aand active experiments that will genuinely make Imo State a model state in Nigeria. His ideology which promotes real democracy services to the citizens, abolition of poverty, corruption and institutionalization of free healthcare system in the state formed the decision of Umuaka Times to make Chief Ehirim the Imo State Man of the Year 2020.
