Two suspected armed robbers killed in Njaba River axis
2 min readIt was a bad day for a gang of armed robbers that usually operated at the Njaba River axis as the combined efforts by the men of the Nigerian Police and Nigerian Army swooped on them and gunned down two members of the gang. For some time now, many motorists, passengers and others who make use of the Orlu Owerri have had their personal belongings such as cash, handsets and ATM cards snatched at gun point by the gang. The bad boys who were behind the robberies used to plan and execute the armed robbery expeditions in double quick time and vanish into the thin air before soldiers and police would arrive. These activities by the robbers had been going on for some months now until it became a deep source of worry for the residents of Njaba LGA and others.
The robbers met their waterloo last week when after a careful analysis of the modus operandi of the robbery gang by the security forces in the LGA, an ambush was laid against them and a combined team of policemen from Njaba LGA and the soldiers stationed in Okwudor tracked down the robbers and shot them down during the last operation.
A few days after the killing of the robbers, two members of the gang were arrested by the police and they later confessed to being responsible to most of the robbery and kidnap activities taking place at the Njaba River axis. According to their confession, the leader of the gang named Bibinson was one of the robbers gunned down by the combined team of the police and soldiers.
Investigations into the incident are still ongoing at the time of filing in this report. Umuaka Times gathered that at the end of the investigations, the suspects would be charged to court.
