2 min readThe founder of Umuaka Charity Fund/Foundation, Mazi Iwuaku Iwuchukwu, a businessman, philanthropist and social worker is someone who has the interest of Umuaka in mind right from his early youthful days. In business, he has trained many and has also helped in securing jobs to many Akalites both in and outside Nigeria.
During the launching of Umuaka Charity Foundation at the 2023 Easter celebration, Chief Iwuaku Iwuchukwu promised to be donating the sum of N1 million yearly to the foundation during his birthday for the foundation to continue to take care of the poor among Akalites and give their lives a meaning. This is a promise he made after hiring an office for the foundation and made a N500,000 takeoff grant to the foundation.
As Christmas is approaching, Mazi Iwuchukwu has rolled out the programs the foundation has for Umuaka youths who are ready to go into intensive farming. During a presentation made to Umuaka Times by Chief Iwuchukwu, he disclosed that on second January 2024, 25 Akalites will be empowered with the sum of N200, 000 each to go into snail farming by the foundation. After the first empowerment, the second phase of the grant comes in February 2024 when 50 persons who are interested in yam farming will also be empowered. Umuaka Charity Fund/Foundation will be the overall supervisors of the empowerment programs and will be the body reporting back to the grant makers etcon how the farmers are faring.
From what Umuaka Times correspondent in Angola, the business base of Mazi Iwuaku Iwuchukwu gathered early last week in a brief interview with the founder, the total target of youths to be empowered is 100 and those who are interested and have the determination to work have been told to rush to Omee Plaza before old ogboosisi market at the office of Umuaka Charity Fund and register at the office of Umuaka Charity Fund in order to be considered for the grant.
