Umuaka, other communities record first rain.

Akalites who live in Umuaka town last night witnessed the first rainfall of 2025. The rain which started at about 7:30 pm lasted for about 25 to 30 minutes. Despite early signs and cloudy evening, many people were caught unawares by the rain as a good number of them assumed that it was not going to rain.
During the day, Umuaka Times reporters who went to Owerri on a special assignment confirmed that it rained heavily in New Owerri axis but dropped a little in Amakohia side of the same Owerri community.
From the early days of January 2025, many people have been on the lookout for what many call New Year rain but it failed to come as expected. The rain of yesterday night being Saturday 22 February 2025 was a kind of blessing that swept across Umuaka and the entire Njaba LGA and some parts of Isu LGA; despite being cought unawares, Umuaka Times witnessed people who were still going about their normal businesses under the heavy rain. A woman who spoke with Umuaka Times on why she did not enter to any place until the rain was over, the woman responded and said, “How I wish the rain will soak me until I catch cold. Heat no allow us sleep at all.”
Many other Akalites felt very happy over the first rain as they all complained that the heat at night was highly unbearable for them.
