Umuaka residents complain over bad roads.
2 min readAlmost all the roads in Umuaka Municipal Council have all degenerated to a deeply bad state as some are now unmotorable. Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents who visited Umuaka community last week came back with stories that touch the heart.
First, the Umuaka Amaigbo Road has a deep cut at the Ime Afor axis of the road. This bad spot has at several times led to minor accidents involving motorcyclists and pedestrians etc. The next bad spot which has almost become impassable for motorists on the same road is very close to ama Ojikeya along Umuezikoha side of the road. Several times vehicles trying to pass through the bad spot had sunk at the bad spot, thereby causing more troubles for other road users.
As if that was not enough, at ama Dire in Isiozi shortly before Nkwo Ikpa market is also another bad spot that requires an urgent attention. This particular place is as bad as that which is obtained at ama Ojikeya in Uba. Several times road users had tried to avoid the bad spots; they fell into the stagnant water in the middle of the road. Villages who live around the vicinity tried to appeal to Umuaka Times reporters to help them reach out to the state government for immediate repairs of the road.
Another bad road which is giving Akalites and others a top challenge is Umuezeala Uba Amurie Road. The Ime Afor side of this prominent road is really in a bad state. The road also has highly noticeable bad spots at the Umuezikeukwu side of it. Many people have complained that, if nothing is done urgently, the road can only get worst especially in the current raining season.
The A-Line road which leads to Umuele and other communities is perhaps the worst hit. The road is so bad that in the past, several persons have paid for the repair of the bad spots but after the repairs, only temporary relief was established. The road which is known as Umuaka Ukwuoji Road is really bad while getting to the Ugbele side of it. From ama Feddy Ahamefula and beyond ama (Dorothy/Michael Amuzie, the road has always been bad since the beginning of this year. The trouble road users encounter on this dangerous road goes so bad whenever it rains.
From Afor Umuaka heading to Amiyi, Achara and Ugbele, several parts of the road are really bad. People have always been asking to know what the local government council is doing with tax payers’ funds concerning developing in Njaba LGA. It is still a mirage that Umuaka which is the biggest community in Njaba LGA is witnessing this bad road development.
Umuaka Times findings also show that it is only Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community that has good road network. Umuaka Times thanks Obinwanne community and calls on other communities to do something about their roads.
