Prominent Okwudor citizen, community leader, leadership sustainability coach and the vice chairman of Umuakaje Family Union, Hon Anthony Akalugo (Esq) has described the death of Donatus Akubuiro Nnaoma Diebube Amegano as a big loss not only to his village but to the entire Okwudor and Njaba LGA in general. Honourable Akalugo who disclosed this in an interview with Umuaka Times went further to describe the late Donatus Emegano as a firm servant of humanity who was not only blessed with wisdom but with also humility.
According to him, the late educationist taught in both Imo and Abia states during his service years as a teacher.”He was always ready to offer his fatherly advice any time the younger generations went to him for advice and social directions.”
According to what Umuaka Times gathered concerning the life and times of the deceased educationist, it is a tradition in Umuakaje community that every Christmas and festive season, the younger generations of Umuakaje would visit the oldest man and women in the community to seek their blessings, the old teacher would be so pleased to welcome them and give his blessings.” In fact anytime we visited him, he was always joyful because the children have come to seek for his blessings and he would willingly grant that blessing.”
On the role of Mr Donatus Amegano played as a father, Umuaka Times gathered that he equally trained his children with the sense of respect, sense of honour and sense of humility. “When you look at the exploits his children are making in the world today,” Hon Akalugo told Umuaka Times, “if it were another person who did not have a touch of humility, the person would be so proud that he would be unapproachable. Even at his old age clocking 110 years, he would still respect the first son of the oldest son of Emegano family.”
The Umuaka Times reporter who covered the burial ceremony observed that in some cases, the late educationist was a man of peace indeed and really acknowledged the position of Mr Romanus Emegano as the first son of the eldest brother of Donatus Emegano.
In his conclusion with Umuaka Times, Hon Anthony Akalugo (Esq) who is also the legislative aid to the member representing Njaba LGA in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Uju Onwudiwe, finally described the late Donatus Emegano as the father of one and father of all. Hear him: ” He was a man of peace who appreciated the beauty of family. Umuakaje has lost a great man of peace, a great man of wisdom, a great stabilizer, and a great icon of integrity. A great catechist. May God accept his soul.”
