Umuduruenwereaku abroad union empowers 5 youths with N2.5m.

The abroad union of Umuduruenwereaku kindred of Ndiuhu in Ibele Autonomous Community Njaba LGA Imo State on Saturday January 3, 2026 marked the 2025 edition of her yearly empowerment program. The event which was held in the famous Amadike compound in Ibele attracted the presence of elegantly dressed Umuduruenwere women, youths and men. Among the men who graced the occasion were Chief Goddy Amadike whom the event was held in his compound. High Chief Oliver Iheme and his younger brother, Mr Ngozi Iheme. As the event progressed, Dr Austin Agbahiwe and his brother Kelechi Agbahiwe arrived at the event. They went round and exchanged greetings with those at the high table before taking their seats.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of Umuduruenwereaku abroad union Dr Oliver Iheme who is also a High Chief presided over the affairs of the gathering. He first appreciated and welcomed those who made it to the event before going into the details on the reasons that informed the Umuduruenwereaku abroad union to hold the empowerment program. According to him, the community holds a yearly empowerment program courtesy of donations from the abroad union. Umuaka Times gathered that last year being 2025, the community held the empowerment program with the sum of one million Naira. “In this year, we will empower 5 persons with the sum of N2.5 million and each of the beneficiaries will receive N500,000 worth of assistance,” Dr Iheme told the gathering of his kinsmen and women.

In double quick time, the five beneficiaries made up of 4 boys and one girl were called out for identification and final approval. The beneficiaries immediately came out as they heard their names. Each was given the microphone to make an appreciation comment in view of the empowerment. From the first person to the last, all of the 5 youthful beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the unity and vision of the abroad union of Umuduruenwereaku kindred for the youths. They promised to make a deeply judicious use of the empowerment items their brothers and uncles overseas have provided for them.

Speaking during the event, Chief Goddy Amadike, a high profile community leader and a son of the soil of Umuduruenwereaku kindred, told Umuaka Times that the empowerment program powered by the abroad union has lasted for the last 20 years. “We have successfully carried out this program for the last 20 unstoppable years and the results have been highly amazing,” he told Umuaka Times reporters.

A highly dependable source told Umuaka Times reporters later disclosed to Umuaka Times that the indigent women of Umuduruenwereaku kindred had at several times in the past, received similar empowerment benefits and they made good use of them. Before the event came to an end, the leader of Umuduruenwereaku women, Mrs Patience Amadike also made a speech where she thanked the sons and daughters of the community in diaspora for their love and kindness towards the youths at home. She urged the youths to make use of the beautiful opportunity provided to them by their uncles. Some large sums of money were realized from the evening gathering to support the community in various ways.

In an exclusive telephone interview with Dr Iheme, he thanked Umuaka Times for coming to the event to cover it and give it publicity so that other kindreds across Ibele and Umuaka at large will emulate. Hear him: “You see, today we in diaspora spent N2.5 million to empower the youths and we have been doing it over the years. Think of where other kindreds in Ibele and Umuaka in general start doing this type of empowerment courtesy of their children abroad, we will give poverty and criminality a real fight.”
