The Umuduruori family union Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka in Njaba LGA Imo State, on January 4th 2023, held its most publicized book launch titled Umuduruoriaku Genealogy Book. The event which started from the Obi Ukwu Oguike in Umuezikoha Uba and ended at the late Henry Oguike’s residence all in Umuezikoha community brought together friends, in-laws and well wishers of Umuduruoriaku.

First, the people of Umuduruoriaku started arriving at the venue of the event around 2 pm on the eventful day. In a short while, a top member of the large Umuduruori family, Mr Vice Onyemepu, an engineer and the chief editor of the book addressed the gathering and directed them on how the event would be held. According to his directive, number one on item on the program was the unveiling of the book which was to be performed by Eziada Ezinne Lolo Fidelia Uzoma, nee Egwuogu. For some reasons, the Eziada was conspicuously absent at the event and she was therefore represented by her brother, Chief Alphonsus Egwuogu. He unveiled the book on behalf of his sister with the sum of N500,000.

After the unveiling, the Umuduruoriaku people comprised of their umuada, wives, children, husbands and friends danced from the Obi Ukwu Duruoriaku to the residence of the late South African based lawyer, Sir Henry Oguike where the event proper was held.

As the people were about to enter the Oguike compound, their arrival was greeted with a 21 gun salute which significantly confirmed that the man Duruoriaku was indeed an African warrior of his time.

Several minutes later came the launching of the book. Several dignitaries who could not make it physically to the event were represented at the event by some other persons on their instructions.

The cutting of the cake which was designed in a book form was the highest point of the event. US based attorney, Dr Chris Nwachukwu, the special guest of honour at the event supported the cake cutting with the sum of N250,000. Several personalities also donated substantial amounts of money.

Moved by the decision of those who came up with the book on Umuduruori, Dr Chris Nwachukwu told the audience that he would also make sure that his family union would come up with a similar project.

After several memorable activities at the event to ensure a huge success, the Umuduruoriaku women and umuada presented their cultural dance to the admiration of many. Several invitees who were moved by their entertaining dance steps moved to the arena to spray the dancers with money.

The never before seen event in Umuaka made possible by the sons and daughters of Umuduruoriaku was indeed the beginning of a new era by the Umuduruoriaku people.
