Umuezeala Food Consumption Survey enters final state.
2 min readThe International Institute of Tropical Agriculture sponsored National Food Consumption and Micronutrient Survey taking place in Umuezeala Uba last week entered its final stage. A couple of days ago, Umuaka Times published the story of the program and informed its readers and all Ezealans not to panic about the exercise in relation with the Covid19 activities.
As the program entered its final stage last week, the officials from the National Population Commission and International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA, confirmed to Umuaka Times that the cooperation from the locals have been overwhelming.
At this final stage, the program is about the collection and analyzing of specimen from women and children from Umuisii Umuezeala. When Umuaka Times visited the venue of the final activities of the program, Mrs Doris Uzoho, the nutrition focal person for the program told Umuaka Times that the aim of the program was to ascertain the nutritional status of the people especially women and children. “When there is malnutrition in the society, the most affected persons are women and children What is why we are collecting their specimen to carry out this program. Yesterday we gave 39 persons specimen bottles to bring their stool, urine and blood samples.”
According to Mrs Uzoho, at the end of the program, the research findings will be submitted to the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture and other agencies for further actions. She used the opportunity to thank the people of Umuezeala Uba for their cooperation.
