Umuezeala Uba Championship League kicks off.

The much awaited Umuezeala Uba Umuaka Championship League sponsored by Umuezeala Uba born Paschal Okechukwu Onwukwe also known as Ala kicked off on Monday November 18, 2024 with funfair. The game which was played at Umuezeala Stadium also known as Eburuaja Stadium kicked off by 4:25 pm. The kick-off which was done by Darlington Ojy Onwukwe who represented his younger brother, Paschal Okey Onwukwe (Ala) was done with ease as several football officials, Umuezeala men and women gathered to witness the kick-off and gave him a roaring ovation after he did the kick-off football ritual.
Immediately after the kick-off, the proper football soccer followed without delay. According to the sports correspondents of Umuaka Times, the first leg of the tournament was played between Umuisii and Umuagba communities. The match which lasted for 90 minutes saw none of the teams scoring goals at the first half but during the second half, Umuisii scored two goals against Umuagba. As none of the teams was able to score another girl, Umuisii picked the first leg victory.
Although the Umuagba players were at their best but all their efforts failed to give them their first leg victory.
Nationally acclaimed coach, Uche Dike who happens to be a native of Umuisii was the one who personally handled the training of Umuisii boys thanked both teams for playing good football and encouraged them to put in more efforts in subsequent matches. He congratulated Umuisii players for winning the match but displayed his displeasure over what he described as not so excellent football played by Umuisii.
