Umuezeala Uba women close August meeting with funfair.

The 2023 edition of August meeting of Umuezeala Uba Umuaka women dramatically came to a satisfactory end on Monday August 28 2023 in the famous Obi Nwakaodu in Umuezeala Uba. Before this particular date, the Umuezeala woman had trooped out in their large numbers and took part in the August meetings which lasted a couple of days in the entire Umuaka Municipal Council.
The event as planned kicked off around 12 midday on the said date. When the beautiful Umuezeala women had gathered at the venue, Mrs Chioma Duruojiaku, the leader of the women in a brief interview with Umuaka Times, painted a picture of what to expect from the women at the event segment by segment. First, Mrs Duruojiaku welcomed the women and thanked them for their resilience and hard work in running the home front against all odds. After her welcome address, she called upon Umuisii women to present what is called “ite omumu” to the entire women and their guests.
Shortly after the call, the Umuisii women, the host community women, came out and presented the “ite omumu” with a special song. The chairlady of the Umuisii women was thereafter asked to open the “ite omumu”. She first prayed and opened the ite omumu (pot of birth). After that, the entire Umuisii women came out and gave their support to their leader. Other women from Umuagba and Umulolo also came out and did the same thing as directed by their chairladies.
At the end of this segment, the women went out for their match past. During this segment, the Umuagba women first did theirs, followed by Umuisii and finally Umulolo women. The women once again got seated after the successful and entertaining match past.
Another segment of the event was health education talks which were perhaps the most important of all the segments. Two health experts made up of an independent facilitator and another from Caritas International took time to educate the women on the dangers of tuberculosis, high blood pressure and the preventive measures as well as treatments. At the end of the lectures, the women asked several questions and the facilitators gave them the most appropriate answers.
After the talk shows, the next item on the program of events was a drama presentation prepared and performed by the women. The drama was passing a message on how to and how not to train a child, especially during her school era.
The last on the entertainment list was what the women called “fake news that is true”. The news was written and read by Mrs Ifeoma Amakodike. This segment really thrilled the women and their guests due to the intelligent presentation of the news items by Mrs Amakodike. When the news came to an end, the people clapped for the presenter over her written and spoken Igbo language.
The last segment of the program was refreshment. The women were served with food and drinks and they all felt very happy.
The 2023 celebration of August meeting was indeed a big success as some Umuezeala men came and joined the women during the event. Some money was also realized by the women during the event.
