The Nze Duruekweihe family of Umuezeala Uba, Umuaka Njaba LGA has announced the sudden passage of Mazi Albert Duru, known in the social circles as Alibros. He died on Sunday, July 6, 2025, leaving a void in the hearts of many who knew him and loved him during his livetime.
Alibros lived a life of vibrancy and service to humanity. He was a beloved figure in Umuaka and beyond, respected for his exceptional talents as a DJ, MC and Igbo football commentator. His passion for entertainment brought joy to countless events, and his sense of humour could light up any room from its darkest moments. Beyond his occupational pursuits, Alibros was known for his peacemaking skills and his expertise in traditional Igbo dance especially Ogbanamma and oghu dances.
Darlington Ojy Onwukwe, publisher of Umuaka Times, who had the privilege of working alongside Alibros from 1983 to 1990 as a DJ, described the news of his passage as painfully devastating. According to him, the impact Alibros made on Umuaka community and beyond was indeed profound and his legacy will be remembered for years to come by unborn generations.
As the family prepares for his burial, Umuaka community comes together to celebrate the life and achievements of Mazi Albert Duru (Alibros). May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and bring joy to those who knew him especially the members of his family and more.
Alibros was indeed a legendary Akalite who tried in his own capacity to remake the world. Akalites will forever miss him.
Goodbye my oga. I will forever miss you.
