Vote of thanks from Mr Sabastine Offorji.
1 min readAs the requiem Mass for late Mrs Geraldine Offorji came to an end, the parish priest of St Joseph’s Catholic Isiozi Umuaka took the microphone and greeted all who came for the Mass service. The moment he finished his greeting, he stepped down from the alter and went straight to the congregation and handed the microphone to Mr Sabastine Offorji, the first son of the deceased to make a vote of thanks speech.
Offorji stepped up with him, collected the microphone and introduced himself and began his speech. He thanked all the priests, family and friends who came all the way from their different locations and residences to come and stay with the family. He asked God to guide them home to their different destinations at the close of the event.
Offorji finally used the opportunity to express the deep joy that came with the burial ceremony of his mother. According to him, the burial provided an opportunity for him to see some of his friends and relations he had seen last for the past 40 years, especially his classmates whom he left secondary school with, in 1979.
