2 min readThe vice chairman of Old Boys Association of St Saviour’s High School Umuaka 1981 Set, Mr Emma Dabere Ibeakanma has disclosed to Umuaka Times why the organization embarked on a mission to celebrate Christmas, New Year and empower the widows left behind by some of their fallen members. Speaking with Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents during a church service at St Mary’s Catholic Church Umuaka which the organization participated in, Mr Ibeakanma disclosed to Umuaka Times thus: “Today we are in St Mary’s Catholic Church Umuaka, the 1981 set of St Saviour’s College decided to recognize, to meet and greet and gift the families of members of our set that are deceased.”
Mr Emma Dabere Ibeakanma also confirmed to Umuaka Times that the program was for the first part of 2025 as the organization also has other projects it would embark on within the year.
Asked to explain why they were in the church, Mr Ibeakanma disclosed that the reason for the church service was for them a requiem and thanksgiving Mass for their dead and living members respectively. Umuaka Times further gathered that not less than 36 members of the organization have so far died.
A Lagos based member of the organization Mr Marcel Osigidi told Umuaka Times that he could have been very happy to be present during the empowerment program but could not make it due to some other engagements. He prayed to God to continue to sustain the organization for her to be able to continue the good works it has embarked upon.
