“We need more teachers at High School Umuaka.” Principal.
2 min readIn order to maintain the standard of education High School Umuaka is known for, the principal of the school Mrs Okparaigwe MC has appealed to the community and the state government to send more teachers to the school. The school which shares the same large compound with Hilltop Primary School Uba Umuaka has been recording serious growth since its inception a couple of years ago.
Mrs Okparaigwe who resumed work at the school in February 2022, told Umuaka Times that inadequate number of teachers in the school is seriously affecting the academic calendar of the students.
Talking about the efforts she has made towards solving the problem of inadequate teachers affecting the school, Mrs Okparaigwe told Umuaka Times that she has written to the state government and other relevant bodies and informed the community about the problem. She expressed deep optimism that the problem will soon be overcome.
The principal also complained of criminals who often make their way to the school and cart away some valuables belonging to the school and students. She appealed to the community to beef up security at the school.
Some teachers of the school Umuaka Times gathered are still owed some salary arrears which took place during the Eddy Anokwute regime. She called upon the relevant bodies such as the PTA and education committee to come to the aid of those teachers.
Mrs Okparaigwe finally disclosed to Umuaka Times that since she came on board as the principal of the school, no one is owed salary again as the school now pays the salaries as at when due. She commended the students of the school for their resilience and behavioural change since she took office as the head of the school. She appealed to them to continue to be of good behaviour and take their academic pursuit seriously.
