Akalites and global citizens around the world especially those in America are watching a high profile White House drama where two most powerful men in the world are having an intense and ferocious political battle to unseat each other in diverse ways. Yes indeed, two most powerful individuals in the world. Elon Musk, the richest man alive and Donald Trump, the current US president are indeed slugging it out in a battle of wits. These great men were like Siamese twins during the time Donald Trump was contesting to be the president of the United States under the Grand Old Party otherwise known as Republican Party. Musk practically bought the White House top seat with his personal fortune by donating the sum of $250 million to fund the campaign billionaire friend Donald Trump. Barely 5 months on the throne, the gentlemen no longer see face to face.

According to Umuaka Times correspondents in America, the bubble blew into pieces between the two global figures when Elon Musk had had enough of Trump’s political experiments and went ahead and criticized his style of governance. According to the sources Umuaka Times came across, Musk criticized Trump’s “big beautiful” spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” that would irresponsibly add to the US national debts.

Trump, a no-holds-barred American president could not take the criticism lightly and instantly fired back by suggesting he might scrap government contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla. The bad news on this terrain is that Trump’s threat to terminate government contracts with Musk’s companies could impact SpaceX’s $15.2 billion in NASA contracts and $5.8 billion in Department of Defense contracts.

It is believed that under the Electric Vehicle Tax Credits, Musk’s criticism of Trump’s bill could lead to the loss of $7,500 tax credits for electric vehicle buyers, potentially costing Tesla $1.2 billion annually. Almost every American knows that Tesla’s self-driving technology requires government approval, which might be affected by the threat or suggestion from Trump.

Umuaka Times further gathered that the feud between the two billionaires escalated with both of them exchanging public barbs. In the opinion of Elon Musk, Donald Trump would have lost the election without the millions he (Musk) sank into the campaign. On the response, Trump clearly claimed that Musk had “lost his mind” and wasn’t worth talking to. This public spat led to a significant drop in Tesla’s stock value. Industry watchers claimed that this move erased about $152 billion from its market value.

Global investors as at last week raised fears that the Trump-Musk feud has raised concerns about the potential impact on Musk’s businesses, including Tesla’s stock performance: Tesla shares plummeted 14% amid the feud. Indications last week also showed that Trump’s threat to scrap Musk’s contracts could affect SpaceX’s future.

Also last week, there were newspaper opinions globally that Musk’s criticism of Trump’s policies might lead to stricter regulations for Tesla and SpaceX. Experts have described this omen as a big bone for Musk to chew.

Meanwhile the the development had attracted the attention of Russia. The Putin government had somehow in a mockery manner offered to mediate between the two giants; The country’s Security Council Vice President named Dmitry Medvedev last week announced on his official X handle to extend what is now known as the Russian solution where he claimed that Moscow is “ready to facilitate a peace deal” between the two men “for a reasonable fee.” The gentleman also added that Russia would even be willing to “accept Starlink shares as payment.” Some international political analysts and opinion molders have described the Russian move as a disrespectful joke.

In another development, some top voices in American Europe and Asia had expected that George Soros would also wade into the drama and mock the Republicans just like Russia did. Indeed as at last week before press time, neither Soros nor his son Alexander has said anything regarding the development but as an unrepentant sponsor of Democratic Party, Soros’ views are not farfetched based on his public stances and affiliations; Soros is known for supporting liberal causes and Democratic candidates, whereas Musk has recently aligned himself with Trump and Republican ideologies. Soros supports Democratic candidates and liberal causes, donating $32 billion to promote “open societies” globally. In contrast, Musk has shifted towards Republican ideologies and donated $277 million to Trump’s campaign. Musk honestly believes that without hi, Trump would not have made it to the White House for the second time.

As it stands today, both individuals (Soros and Musk) claim they believe in free speech, but their interpretations differ. Musk has become a vocal advocate for unrestricted free speech, while Soros’ Open Society Foundations focuses on promoting human rights and civil liberties across the world.

Political gurus around the world last week were of the submission that Soros’ influence is often seen as more indirect, shaping societies through his foundations. Musk, on the other hand, has directly entered party politics, backing Trump and spreading misinformation. Given the stark contrast in their values and affiliations, it is likely Soros would disagree with Musk’s involvement with Trump.

For now, the White House drama is gathering momentum and it is only time that will tell how the two top global figures will end it as they are no longer at ease. Well, the truth remains that when two billionaires fight, the masses American masses suffer.
