Prince Uchechukwu Anthony Duruigbo also known as Governor has explained to Umuaka Times in an exclusive interview last week why he donated a unity cup in Uba Umuaka community. Speaking with the local correspondents of Umuaka Times, Prince Duruigbo disclosed that he brought out a cup in the community following a complaint from Hon Emma Izunwa who lamented that every other autonomous community in Umuaka has her own unity cup competition except Uba community. According to Prince Duruigbo, he did not feel cool with the complaint and he subsequently donated the Uba Umuaka Unity Cup otherwise known as Governor’s Cup.

Besides the complaint, Duruigbo also told Umuaka Times that another reason that made him donate the cup was to unite the Uba villages together as one.

Asked if the competition is only for 2025 or not, the donor confirmed that the Governor’s Cup will be a yearly football event so as to prepare the Uba footballers for more competitions ahead.

Today being Sunday 16 February 2025 will be the finals of the cup which will hold between Umuezeala FC and Umuezikoha FC at Hilltop Primary School. The opening ceremonies for the event will start by 3:30pm while the soccer game will kick-off by 4 pm on the dot.

Many football lovers have predicted that the Umuezeala FC will win the cup while others say otherwise. Be that as it may, the football clash between the two teams is simply a clash of the titans.
