The Ugbele Akah born international female football star, Miss Okwuchukwu Chiamaka has departed to Columbia with her teammates at Falconets. The team which has been in a camp in Abuja for more than two months now is among the 24 female football teams representing 24 countries that will take part in this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup taking place in Colombia.

According to Umuaka Times correspondents in Bogotá, the capital city of Columbia, Nigeria is in Group D alongside with Germany, Venezuela and Korean Republic. For the African continent, Nigeria, Morocco, Cameroon and Ghana will be representing Africa in the tournament which begins from August 31 and ends on September 22.

The football matches will also be hosted in four stadia in three cities in the country. The cities are, Bogotá, Medellín and Cali. Umuaka Times also gathered that a team of 20 footballers formed the members of the Falconet which will be playing in this year’s edition of the female world cup tournament.

Umuaka Times efforts to speak with Okwuchukwu Chiamaka proved abortive as the handlers of the team told the Abuja correspondents of Umuaka Times that there was no provision for media engagement with the team any longer.

Head coach of the team Christopher Danjuma showed high optimism when he spoke with sports journalists in Abuja last week. “The girls have been working very hard, and I am delighted at the level of improvement I have seen in the squad.”
