Trouble in Ezeala School of Nursing as student turns kidnapper.
2 min readDespite the ongoing killings in Imo State for some time now, it appears the state has assumed the status of what Professor Anezi Okoro in his 1972 book termed One Week One Trouble. The fillers Umuaka Times gathered last week showed that a popular school of nursing officially addressed as Ezeala College of Nursing in the state was last week thrown into a deep pandemonium when a 27 year old student of the health institution named Oluchukwu Chukwuma was arrested by the police.
Umuaka Times gathered that the arrest of the student, Mr Oluchukwu Chukwuma who is also known as Romeo was in connection with the alleged kidnap plan and murder of a fellow student known as Ikechukwu Ezeala.
According to the police investigations, the suspected student tricked Ikechukwu Ezeala to the town of Oforola in Owerri West LGA in the state where a master plan had already been concluded by the suspects and members of his gang on the possible kidnapping and possibly murder of their victim.
The suspected kidnappers were successful according to police investigations to trick their victim to a hideout where other gang members also joined. The report says, ‘’the hoodlums demanded ransom of Fifteen Million Naira (#15, 000, 000. 00), and later, the sum of Two Million Naira (#2, 000, 000. 00) was paid into a bank account number 6320856966 bearing Nwakuba Kingsley Osinanna on 14/02/2023. After payment of the ransom, an additional ransom of One Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#1, 200, 000. 00) was equally paid on demand by the hoodlums at Oforola in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State. At the end of the payment, the victim was not released.”
There is a strong indication or suspicion that the victim may have been murdered as at press time.
