2 min read

Last week, the Orubele family of Ebenator Ekwe in Isu LGA witnessed an unprovoked spate of violence in the family compound as some boys suspected to be Amaeze Amurie Omanze youths invaded the family and caused serious destructions estimated to worth millions of Naira.

The reason for the invasion could not be established by Umuaka Times as at press time last week but there are speculations still ongoing that it may perhaps be connected with an alleged failed marriage between a man from Amaeze and a lady from a family that shares the same compound with the Orubeles.

From the findings of Umuaka Times, there were some allegations and suspicions last week that the unprovoked invasion of the Orubele family may have been triggered by the sudden death of an Amaeze man (name withheld) who was said to be married from a family that shares the same compound with the Orubeles. According to the gist making the round, the dead Amaeze man and his wife separated for about the last 7 months and the man was lucky enough to get a new wife from Obinwanne. Just a few days after he had performed the traditional rites of marriage in Obinwanne, the man suddenly died.

This according to some allegations that are still trailing the invasion could be the reason “motorcycle boys” suspected to be Amaeze youths embarked on a careless invasion of the Orubele family in a convoy and caused wanton destructions.

As at Thursday last week, Umuaka Times reporters who visited the Orubele family in Ebenator Ekwe confirmed that the case had already been reported at the Isu Police Station. The doors and windows in about two houses in the family were seriously vandalized and a Toyota Camry vehicle parked in the compound was also vandalized.

Umuaka Times could not establish if any arrest had so far been made in connection with the crime. As it stands now,the case has been handed over to the Nigerian Police for more investigations.
