“Motorcycle boys” mock workers fixing speed breakers.
2 min readTeenage boys in Umuaka who own and drive motorcycles recklessly otherwise known as “motorcycle boys” yesterday (Tuesday May 7) came out to mock the workers who were fixing the speed breakers as the work was going on. The mocking took place when Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents were busy filming and giving situation report on the exercise to global Umuaka. Then came a few of the motorcycle boys who stopped by to laugh at the workers. One of them who had the effrontery went straight to the workers and said to them; “which kin mumu work una the do? We will jump this bump with our motorcycles and will not even notice it.”
Another one asked why the exercise was deemed important, when he was told, he burst into laughter and asked to no one in particular; “if una go put this here, what of Achara area and Njaba River area? Motor no the get accident in those areas?”
As if they knew the character of the boys, the workers totally ignored them and continued with their work. The last one among them, who claimed that his name is Ah-boy, went straight to Umuaka Times and said: “This will cause more accidents because many cars will not know about these bumps until when it is very late for them to notice it.”
As the motorcycle boys were busy mocking the workers, several passers-by took their time to greet and thank those behind the lifesaving exercise.
