Isiozi Akah Unity Cup kicks-off with grassroots support.

Actions and attention were on Sunday 29 September 2024 shifted to the Riverside Primary School Isiozi Akah where the maiden edition of Isiozi Akah Unity Cup kicked-off with funfair. Local reporters who witnessed the football incident confirmed that the big football event held at Riverside stadium attracted a lot of men and women of substance from Isiozi Akah and other parts of Umuaka.
The football tournament had already begun before the arrival of Umuaka Times reporters who monitored the event. The first leg of the football match which was between Umuduruofor and Umuokwaranwaneri communities of Isiozi Akah was marvelously played but none of the teams was able to score any goal during the first half.
Minutes later, the second half of the match began with each team having high hopes that it was going to score but as the god of soccer would have it on that eventful day, none of the teams scored any goal in the second half also.
The referee, an Uba Umuaka born ace footballer, Mr Tanko Ajuka blew the final whistle when the 90 minutes full time was completed. Each team had a friendly handshake with themselves thereby signaling a successful end of the kick-of the 2024 maiden edition of Isiozi Akah Unity Cup donated by Chief Emeka Bekee Nwachukwu, an illustrious son of the community.
As the name of the tournament depicts, the first leg of Isiozi Akah Unity Cup fiesta attracted several high profile personalities from all the villages in Isiozi Akah. Personalities like Gerald Ibegbulem, Chukwudi Egonu, Chief Emeka Bekee Nwachukwu, the donor of the cup and the president-general of the community, Hon Chibuzor (Duke) Duruaburuo. Chief Polycarp Adizuo was also present during the event. Other personalities who were witnesses to the event included Achara born former footballer, Chief Mike Nwaikwu and many others.
The event which ushered in the 2024 edition of Isiozi Akah Unity Cup was indeed a path way to peace and unity in the community.
