7 Young Akalites Called to Bar in Grand Style.

In a grand celebration that was held last week, 7 young individual Akalites were called to the Nigerian Bar, marking a significant milestone in their chosen academic and professional journeys. The Call to Bar ceremony, held at the Body of Benchers Complex in Abuja from July 8th to July 10th, 2025, was a memorable event that attracted the presence of family and friends for the new lawyers and their communities.

The 7 new lawyers are graduates from different universities across Nigeria and the United Kingdom too. The new wigs include:

Barrister Justin ChukwudiEzeala (Obinwanne). Ezeala who is also a crown prince graduated from the University of Kent in the UK and holds a Master’s degree from the University of Law Birmingham.

Miss OparaIfunanya Cynthia (Obeakpu), Imo State University. Miss Oluchi Maria Onumara (Ugbele), Abia State University. ChiamakaAppiahUzuegbu (Obeakpu), Anambra State University. Miss Ikwu Miriam Chinasa (Achara), Enugu State University of Science and Technology.Miss Nwamba Mercy Ngozi (Umuele), University of Nigeria Nsukka and MrsChisom Evangelista Eze, from Imo State University. Among all the new lawyers, Miss Nwamba made First Class and received global ovation for her academic achievement when it was announced recently on the website of UNN.

The new lawyers were celebrated by their families and communities last week at some venues; HRM Eze Justin Ezeala, the royal father of ObinwanneUmuaka Autonomous Community, hosted the new wigs at Pedestal Gardens on July 11, 2025. During the event, Barrister Lesley ChinweAgams congratulated the new wigs and their families, while HRMEze Justin Ezeala advised the new lawyers to take their new challenges seriously, do the right thing, and use their profession to make the society a better place.

The yearly Call to Bar ceremony is a significant milestone in the legal profession, marking the formal admission of individuals who have completed the required training and examinations to become lawyers. The six new lawyers from Umuaka have set a shining example for others to follow and their achievement is a testament to their hard work, sacrifices and dedication over the years.

Umuaka Times local correspondents who covered the event confirmed that many Akalites trooped to Abuja last week for the big event.
