Akalites in Ghana Form Umuaka National Union.

A group of Umuaka men living in the West African country of Ghana has been formed. The group which is named the Foundation of Umuaka Progressive Union Ghana has already held its maiden meeting.

In an interview with Umuaka Times correspondents in Ghana, the acting president of the union Mr. John Nwanyanwu confirmed that it was in his house that the maiden meeting of the organization was held about two weeks ago. During the first meeting, the following Akalites were present.

1: Mr. John Nwanyanwu, 2: Chief Sir Festus Iwuamanam, 3: Mr. Michael Obiagwu

4: Mr. Dennis Agagwuncha, 5: Mr. Solomon Alaekwe, 6: Mr. Anayo Okoro, 7: Mr. Ezeugo Ekwujuru, 8: Mr. Chima Oguama, 9: Mr. Uzoamaka Nwaiwu, 10: Mr. Brenda Nnabuife.

On the day of the first meeting, Umuaka Times also gathered that interim offices were equally shared among members to pilot the affairs of the organization until when a general election will be held. The acting officials of the group are Chairman:  Mr. John Nwanyanwu, Secretary: Mr. Solomon Alaekwe, Financial secretary: Mr. Ezeugo Ekwujuru, Provost: Mr. Anayo Okoro.

While discussing with Umuaka Times, Mazi Nwanyanwu further explained to Umuaka Times why the organization was formed. According to him, Akalites all over the world need to come together and move with one mission and one vision. “We will be working together as brothers and render help to each other when the need arises.”

On if the organization will include others from neighboring communities in Umuaka, the acting president disclosed that the organization is only for Akalites for now. He further told the reporters that there are Orlu, Njaba and Igbo unions in Ghana but no Umuaka union in Ghana. “We then saw the need for our men to come together as Akah Ebe Iri.”

A Ghanaian based businessman from Achara community, Chief Festus Iwuamanam commended the efforts of his fellow Akalites living in Ghana for the new organization which he described as a bold step towards unity, togetherness and development.
