On January 4, 2026, the Best Way Hotel Owerri played a prominent host to the amiable couple Mr and Mrs Goddy and Charity Ajuka who came to celebrate their marriage of over 30 years during a thanksgiving service. Former Miss Charity Duruigbo who hails from Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka got wedded to an Umuduruafor Nkwokwu Eziama Obiator in Mbaitoli LGA Imo State born Mr Goddy Ajuka, a prominent owner of the biggest supermarket store in Umuaka in the 80s to early 90s. The couple has remained together as loving husband and wife till date and that indeed calls for celebrations considering all the blessings from their life to their children and grandchildren and the mercy of God towards the family. To mark these milestones, the couple held a thanksgiving service at St Phillip’s Anglican Church Akwakuma Owerri to celebrate the hand of God in their family.

The event which attracted the presence of notable personalities from both towns including Mr Onyebuchi Davidson Ajuka, the son of the couple and his wife Khadijah Kindle went as planned. Umuaka Times gathered that the couple deemed it necessary after more than 30 years of living as husband and wife to renew their marriage vow in the presence of worshipers during a special Church service at St Philip’s Anglican Church Akwakuma Owerri. The wife, Mrs Charity Ajuka who clad in white dress and the husband who wore a designer suit as if it was their wedding day still held passionately their “I do” vow after the priest had blessed them.

When the church service came to an end, guests drove to the famous Best Way Hotel Owerri where a lavish reception was held in honour of the faithful couple. During the reception, an Owerri based Okwudor born lawyer, Barrister Chika Ekezie who is a relation of Mrs Charity Ajuka (nee Duruigbo) was the chairman of the event. Port Harcourt based Engineer Vice Onyemepu and many other high profile personalities and members of the Unique Committee of Friends were all present during the reception. Lagos lawyer and the principal of Ducex Solicitors, Chief Emma Duruigbo, a younger brother of Mrs Charity Ajuka delivered the closing remarks at the end of the event. Duruigbo used the opportunity and thanked God for the love existing between his elder sister and her husband.
Many people who attended the event spoke at some intervals about the love and the spirit of oneness existing among the couple. They appealed to the couple to continue to live in peace with the fear of God who has taken them this far in their marriage.

Efforts by Umuaka Times to engage Mrs Khadijah Kindle Onyebuchi Davidson Ajuka to seek her feelings about the event could not work out due to some issues but from her facial expressions during the event, it is strongly believed that she really enjoyed watching her mother and father in-law venue their marriage vow in a grand style.
