The Umuada Umuaka Owerri Branch is celebrating four years of existence and four years of consistent charity works in Umuaka, and has now launched an appeal to expand its empowerment program to reach more people. The branch, led by its President, Mrs. Chineye Ahanotu (nee Duru), with the Vice President and Executive Members, has become known in Umuaka for its regular support to the less privileged, especially market women, students and the aged.
For four years, the group has empowered market women in Umuaka, helping them to sustain their businesses and support their families. Now, the umuada group says she wants to elaborate and expand the project to cover more beneficiaries across the community.
Umuaka Times gathered that as part of the 4th anniversary expansion, the branch has outlined two major charity arms: 1. Secondary Schools in Umuaka where the body will visit selected schools in Umuaka to distribute school bags and books, and assisting some students with their WASSCE registration fees. Proposed budget: ₦10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira Only).
- Umuaka Community Charity. This is the regular charity work of the group at Afor Umuaka, giving food items and cash, and establishing some of aged parents who need assistance. Speaking on behalf of the Branch, the leadership said over the years, they have consistently carried out charitable activities, helping different groups and individuals according to their needs, without restriction to any particular category of beneficiaries.
“We sincerely appeal for your financial contribution. With the support of well-meaning individuals like you, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these students, our community members and our aged parents, and sustain our commitment to giving back to society,” the Branch stated.
“Every contribution, big or small, goes a long way, and we warmly invite you to join hands with us in this worthy cause.”
