2 min readOn January 5, 2021, the Old Boys Association of High School Umuaka 1988 set had its end of the year party at the country home of Mr Chinenye Unamma in Umuele village. According to what Umuaka Times observed, it was the biggest of all the get-together parties so far, as plenty old students of the famous institution attended with their families to celebrate with the 1988 set officially called Klubb88.
Prominent among the guests who attend the event was Chief Dr Ikenna Duru, an American based pharmacist and a businessman. Duru himself is also an old boy of the same school. When it was time for him to take his leave, he addressed the group. Dr Duru who left the school a couple of years after the 1988 set graduated, addressed the old students as his seniors. He thanked them very well for the moral training he received in their hands during his days at High School Umuaka. According to him, “If it was not by your training and guidance, I would not have been what I am today. May God bless you all.”
Before Chief Duru, who is also an Umuaka Times Covid19 Charity awardee dropped the microphone, he promised the group that he would make sure that every year, the end of the year party of Klubb88 would hold. He plainly announced his readiness to fund the party in case of any year the group would not able to fund it.
To demonstrate his readiness, Chief Dr Ikenna Duru sent last week, the sum of N100,000 to the group through Mr Chinenye Unamma who hosted the group on the January party. When Unamma announced the donation at the Klubb88 forum last week, members of the group appreciated the kind gesture and thanked both Unamma and Duru for the donation.
