Imo commissioner charges youths to be of good behaviour.
2 min readThe Imo State commissioner for agriculture, Dr Lambert Orisakwe has charged the youths in the state and beyond, to be of good behaviour and adopt positive thinking in all their dealings as youths. Dr Orisakwe made this appeal on Saturday 20 March 2021 while speaking as the guest lecturer during the 7th convocation and 8th matriculation ceremony of Niger Delta Innovative Institute held at the premises of Umuaka Community Hospital Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State. Dr Orisakwe who made his lecture interactive strongly condemned the attitude of the Nigerian youths of today who engage in militancy, examination malpractice, drugs, yahoo business, kidnapping and other sundry sins.
He blamed this ugly trend on the youths who have so far refused to follow the righteous paths of life their parents and the Bible have been teaching them over the years. He enjoined those of them who are pursuing different careers in academics to continue their pursuit with hard work and dedication because a lot of academic crowns await them at last. He further appealed to them to develop resistance to the glamour and fun the “left wing” youths of today are trying their best to market to them through the poisonous fruits of yahoo business and other crimes.
Dr Orisakwe spoke emphatically about agriculture and enjoined the students to embrace agriculture as a profession despite what they may have read in the great institution. He mentioned a lot of incentives the government is ready to extend to farmers and urged the graduating students of the institution to tap into the agricultural programs of the Federal Government.
The lecture which was titled, The Role of Youths in a Developing Country Like Nigeria lasted for more than an hour as the honourable commissioner held both the students and other guests spell-bound by his practical teaching.
At the end of the lecture, students and guests stood on their feet and made a big ovation in honour of the guest lecturer.
