Six suspected cultists arrested during initiation in Awka.
1 min readReports emerged last week from the Anambra State Police Command as it announced the arrest of six suspected cultists. The cultists who were arrested at the point of their initiation ceremony were between the ages of 17 and 25 years.
The incident which occurred in Amikwo village in Awka was disclosed to the public by the police spokesman in the state named Tochukwu Ikenga.
Umuaka Times learnt that about two locally-made pistols and some live cartridges were reportedly recovered from the suspects when the police stormed the venue of the initiation.
According to the police, the suspects were Michael Ozuah (20), Onyemaechi Chijoke (25) Ejinaka Chukwujekwu (17) Emeka Nwanna (18) Chukwuma Obu (22) and Ifeanyi Ebeze (25). The suspects had already confessed to the crime according to the police briefing. The suspects also told the police that they were members of Black Axe Confraternity and they also took part in the shooting incident of April 12, which resulted to the death of an unidentified man in Ukwuoji area of Awka.
