Akalites in Diaspora have again, identified and thrown their weight behind the political ambition of Dr TJ. Ehirm, who wants to become the next governor of Imo State under Labour Party come 2024. On Monday January 2, 2023 several Akalites who reside outside Nigeria and some others who live in the country gathered at the country home of Mr Uzoma Orgazi to discuss the modalities on how to market the candidacy of Dr Ehirim.

At the meeting, Sir Sydney Okpoko the chairman of Akah Aborigines in South Africa made the opening remarks and set the ball rolling. In his speech, Sir Okpoko painted a graphic picture of how supportive and enterprising Dr Ehirim has always been not only to Akalites in South Africa but to Nigerians in general. He explained further that the purpose of the meeting was to harmonize the modalities on how to give Ehirim the grassroots support he needs to sail to the Government House Owerri.

Several other persons who spoke immediately Okpoko ended his opening remarks, went further to challenge the gathering to embark on what is called information strategy. By this strategy, the gathering resolved that “now is the time to tell the next person about the TJ Ehirim project”.

Several persons especially those who came from South Africa and India spoke at the event in favour of the TJ Ehirim’s project. PDP stalwart in Njaba Hon Obinna Brainbox Orgazi who also spoke at the event, seriously cautioned TJ Ehirim on how to make his moves on the political chess board of Imo State. He guided him with his wealth of experience in politics and further appealed to the people to do their best to market Dr Ehirim.

In his response, Dr TJ Ehirim thanked the organizers of the program for their vision and support towards the project. He specifically thanked Uba indigenes for the support so far shown to him. According to what he told the audience during his speech, Uba indigenes in America and outside America, have collectively donated over N20million to the project.

Ehirim who has won the hearts of many through his track record in the South African health care sector is known by his political dictum which says, “Let the best of us rule the rest of us.”
