Akalites mourn as Chukwudera Ugwuala’s burial date is fixed.

The Ugwuala family of Umudionyeka Ugbele-Akah of Njaba LGA Imo State has sadly announced the death of her son, Engineer Chukwudera Ugwuala. From the press statement Umuaka Times obtained from one of the family members in the United States, Dr (Prince) Uchenna Ugwuala, the young and promising Engineer Chukwudera Ugwuala till his death, was a graduate of petrochemical engineering who graduated from the Federal University of Technology Owerri. After his graduation, Engineer Ugwuala headed for the United Kingdom where he obtained a Masters degree in Oil & Gas from the prestigious University of Dundee, Scotland.

Dera, as he was fondly addressed by close associates, returned to Nigeria after his intensive study. He remained in Nigeria briefly before embarking on yet another international trip to Turkey. As a man always on the move, Dera then took another trip from Turkey to the United States where he finally settled. It was during his stay in the Bay area of California that the cold hands of death had a grip on him.


On the burial arrangements for the final journey of Engineer Ugwuala, Thursday 15 December 2022 has been picked for a Christian wakes night which will hold in the compound of Eze-Elect’s Palace in Ugbele Okwu kindred of Ugbele Akah. Friday December 16, 2022, by 7am,the remains of high profile Engineer would leave Aladinma Hospital Mortuary Owerri for his home town. By 9 am, the body arrives the family compound for people to pay their last respect.

Umuaka Times gathered that the lying in state would last for an hour spanning from 9 in the morning and ending by 10 am. This will be followed immediately by a requiem Mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church Ugbele Akah. Interment follows immediately after the mass in his family compound. An outing Mass has been fixed at St Joseph’s Catholic Church Ugbele on the following Sunday after the burial for the repose of the soul of the departed.

Dera was survived by his parents and a host of other family members and relations.
