Amazon publishes Prof Victor Dike’s new book.
2 min readHigh profile Akalite, scholar, administrator and a highly respected author across many countries of the world, Dr Victor Dike had as at last week published his new book on Amazon. The book titled, Teaching the 21st Century Learner: Teachers’ Skills, Knowledge and Dispositions. A Framework for Teaching and Learning, according to the author, “focuses on contemporary issues facing education and schooling as it provides a sociological and multicultural framework and analysis for teaching the 21st century learner.”
While chatting with the American correspondent of Umuaka Times last week, the author, who has over 5 books to his credit went further and explained that the “book uses hands-on applications from the author’s classroom observations, discussions with his colleagues and diverse learning theories about teaching and learning strategies. Furthermore,, Umuaka Times gathered that the book particularly “focuses on the skills, knowledge and dispositions that will enable 21st century educators to become effective in contemporary classroom populated by learners with diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, different learning styles and needs. Thus, this book explores differentiated instructional techniques to meet the learning needs of diverse students at a setting, the skills learners should acquire to be productive in 21st century society, strategies for assessment and feedback to learners and creating classroom environments that will enhance teaching and learning.“
Dr Dike whose books so far have mainly focused critically on the political events of Nigeria especially, since the advent of democracy in the country went further to conclude that his book “is for every instructor at all levels of education who wishes to improve students’ understanding of contents and learning process. It is written in a plain language to address those challenges facing teaching and learning with strategies to engage the learner and equip them with essential 21st century skills to enable them compete effectively in the rapidly changing and technology-driven global economy.”
