Another Umuaka town discovered in Enugu State.
2 min readUmuaka Times newspapers recently stumbled into a community in Enugu State known and officially addressed as Umuaka. The Enugu Umuaka community is a village located in Udi Ment area of Nsude in Udi Local Government Area of the state. The difference between Umuaka of Enugu State and Umuaka of Njaba LGA Imo State is that the Umuaka in Njaba LGA is a town made up of 10 autonomous communities while the Umuaka of Nsude in Odi LGA of Enugu State is just one village out of the ten villages of Nsude town.
The two Umuaka towns share a lot in common such as industry, academic excellence and high profile personalities. In 2011, the peaceful town of Nsude which is the parent community of Umuaka village got a new traditional ruler in the person of renowned Professor of Physiology and former member of the Senate of the University of Benin Edo State, HRH Igwe Kenneth Amaechi Onyia. The famous professor replaced Igwe Lawrence Onoh who passed away shortly before a new monarch was coroneted. Down to Imo State, the Umuaka town also got a new royal father in the person of HRH Eze Henry Izuchukwu Ojinnaka who replaced his late dad, HRH Eze Aloysius Ojinnaka who has also passed away.
Some Akalites who spoke with Umuaka Times last week suspected that there may be some historical evidences linking the two Umuaka communities as “brothers”. For now, researchers are yet to come up with any evidence linking the two communities but Umuaka Times has already begun making moves in search of any available evidence to link the two communities.
An Enugu based Akalite who spoke with Umuaka Times on the condition of anonymity last week strongly believed that the Enugu State Umuaka town must have migrated from Imo State Umuaka. “We know our history very well. You know, in the olden days, people migrated a lot and our local history has it that the first son of Aka called Eheme migrated to another community. Who knows if the Umuaka in Enugu State could be linked to him?”
