2 min readMama, Mrs. Helen Mmiriuwamaotuonye Onyemepu, a 90 year woman with an exceptional integrity. She was the first wife of Ichie Chief Paulinus Anozie Onyemepu from Umuduruoriaku, Umuezikeoha, Uba Umuaka.
Mama, Mrs. Helen Onyemepu is the daughter of Late Mr. and Mrs. Okorom, from Umudurunuihe, Umudewuru, Ebenator, Ekwe, in Isu Local Government, Imo State, Nigeria.
Mama Helen’s happy state of mind was rooted to her parents’ family upbringing being the seventh child of her parents eight siblings. She was such a beautiful, always smiling, always contempt person which transcended into her marriage life. Those who came across Mama Helen Onyemepu will vouch for her that she was simply a genuine gentle soul that welcomed everyone with whatever she had.
Mama Mrs. Helen Onyemepu was an exceptional mother with an exceptional loving heart. Stating that Mama Mrs. Helen Onyemepu was a genuine nice woman would be an understatement to her personally.
Yet, how do you describe a heartily good woman all around with no faults, no atom of unhealthy behavior in her blood?
Yes she was a strong woman, physically beautiful, pure in heart and spirit, loving, accommodating, gentle, sweet and kind, unconditional acceptance of all people, peaceful, and she was always calm.
She was a true Christian Mother. Therefore, we are gathered here today to celebrate both the beginning and the end of her life well lived. Together, we will mourn her the way that she will approve, not by how we want it, but by how she would like to be remembered.
A great woman of inclusiveness of all children. (Mama Helen is the only mother who has ever said to me that all her husband children are by right her very own children).
Mama Helen Onyemepu was born in a family of eight siblings, married very early in her youth to Chief Ichie Paulinus Anozie Onyemepu. Mrs. Helen Onyemepu was blessed with twelve children in her husband’s house. So many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a full member of the Catholic Church up until the year 1997, when her only remaining first son passed away on her absence, visiting the United States of America.
It was very difficult for her to bear the pain and the shock. She searched for her God in some few Christian churches, looking for our Almighty God to answer her questions. But no one could answer her most difficult questions.
