It was a triple celebration in Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community, Umuaka Municipal Council, in Njaba LGA on Sunday December 18, 2022 when St Saviour’s College Umuaka officially moved to its newly acquired permanent site. The event which attracted both the high and the mighty both from the Catholic Church and the community at large was held alongside with the Catholic Confirmation ceremony held at St Paul’s Catholic Church Amiyi and the Christmas cultural celebration of the students of St Saviour’s College.

By the time Umuaka Times arrived at the premises of the school, many dignitaries including the Amiyi top stakeholders, were already seated and awaiting for the arrival of the Bishop of Orlu Diocese Rev Dr Augustine Ukwuoma. In a short while, the master of ceremony announced the arrival of the bishop who was ushered into the venue by an army of top security men and other church and Amiyi community officials.

In a short while, the royal father of the community HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu took the microphone and welcomed the people. This incident happened after the MC had announced to the people to stand on their feet and welcome the royal father. Eze Ahanotu presented the kola nuts to the guests and gave it to the bishop to bless. In a very short prayer, Bishop Ukwuoma blessed the kola nuts and handed the tray containing the cola nuts back to the royal father for sharing among the guests.

The next segment from the program of events was the dedication of the school project by the bishop. The royal father and some members of his cabinet and the principal of the school led the bishop to the main building of the school. The bishop, prayed over the school and committed it and the students in the hands of God. He took a pair of scissors and cut the red ribbon, signifying that the school has been placed in the hands of God. Bishop Ukwuoma then led the stakeholders who witnessed the cutting of the red ribbon from the ground floor to the upstairs where he blessed and sprinkled holy water in all the classes and other parts of the building.

Several other events took turn according to the program of the day including several entertainment segments by the students. At the end of the program, His Lordship Bishop Ukwuoma thanked the Amiyi-Akah community and asked God to continue to bless and protect them.
