Top community leader and chieftaincy title holder, Chief Louis Duru has narrated to Umuaka Times how St Saviour’s College finally came to Amiyi-Akah community. In a voice message sent to Umuaka Times, Chief Duru explained that St Saviour’s College came to Amiyi Akah because there was an existing infrastructure in Amiyi during the time the Orlu Diocese was looking for a new site for the school relocation.

While responding to questions from Umuaka Times on the new school, Chief Duru told Umuaka Times that Amiyi and Isiozi were the only communities in Umuaka that tendered applications for the school to be built in their community. According to Duru who was the Chairman of Relocation Committee of the school, St Saviour’s College has come to stay and from what the community and many other stakeholders have so far gathered, the people are so happy that the school is back to their community and better.

According to historical evidence, a late prominent son of Amiyi, Chief Luke Ahanotu who was educated and wealthy in the 50s played a significant and instrumental role for the approval and location of the school in Umuaka in the 50s. Indigenes of Amiyi-Akah usually make bold to display their pride that their son helped to bring to Umuaka has finally come back to its roots. Incidentally, the son of the late Chief Ahanotu, is the current traditional ruler of Amiyi-Akah Autonomous Community.

In his final conclusion, he thanked all the people who contributed in many ways to make the new St Saviour’s College Amiyi-Akah a reality.
