Chief Declan Dire gives out 100 bags of rice for the poor.
2 min readChief Declan Ibezimako Dire (Chief DID), an American based businessman, the Ariri Eri Mba 1 of Umuaka, philanthropist and top community leader from Isiozi Umuaka yesterday celebrated Christmas to the needy in the entire Umuaka Municipal Council. The philanthropist donated 100 bags of rice for the entire Umuaka Ebe Iri. In order to make sure that each village gets its complete 10 bags, he invited all the presidents- general in Umuaka to come forward and pick their consignments respectively.
According to a source who spoke with Umuaka Times shortly after the event, Chief DID decided to send the bags of rice through the presidents general because it is they who know the families who are qualified in their different communities to receive the food item. While making the presentations to PGs, the philanthropist appealed to them to make sure that the bags of rice would be evenly distributed among the needy in their communities. In order to aid the transportation of the bags of rice to their different destinations within Umuaka, Chief DID also funded the cost of transport to that effect. He handed over an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash to each president general.
The Umuaka Times reporter who monitored the event confirmed that several top personalities were in attendance during the event including, HRH Eze Barrister Victor Ijeoma, the Isiudo 1 of Isiozi Akah. Both the royal father and the PGs offered their prayers to the great philanthropist at the close of the event.
