2 min read

Controversial and outspoken political activist, Chief EOC Durugbor has described the late Prof JOL Ezeala as the last of the titans. This disclosure was made when Umuaka Times visited the Chief last week to seek his reaction on the death of the late sage who was  buried a couple of days ago.

Chief Durugbor went further and lamented that it would take Umuaka community at least 2 more decades to have someone like Professor Ezeala again. According to him, the well read professor was born with a golden spoon. “His father’s disposition as a court registrar provided the sound background that inspired his son.”

Talking about his education, Chief Durugbor told Umuaka Times that the late Prof was a former student of BSC Orlu where he came out with distinction, worked briefly with the East Central Nigeria Broadcasting Service ECNBS, from Enugu to Port Harcourt before he travelled to the United States where he had brilliant studies covering political science, international relations, public diplomacy and finally law.

Chief Durugbor expressed optimism that the two sons of the late professor will be able to wear the big shoes left behind by their father properly. He dismissed the fears that the death of the legal icon would create an intellectual vacuum in Umuaka. He only expressed fears that the eloquence and dynamism of the late Professor would certainly be missed.

Chief Durugbor finally concluded by calling for an urgent immortalization of the late professor who lived a simple life so that the younger generations will emulate. He prayed to God to give the family left behind by Prof JOL Ezeala the fortitude to bear the loss.
