Chief Egolu who holds the title of Ogbuhuruzo 1 of Umuaka stressed the need to have peace restored in the community because in his own views, the NUPI crisis has led to social and developmental standstill in the community. According to Chief Egolu, many people kicked against the inclusion of his name in the Umuaka Peace and Reconciliation Committee, citing reasons that he belonged to the Dr Austin Agbahiwe-led faction of the group. “Yes I belong to the audit committee of NUPI but we worked with the materials made available to us. “Should I crucify Agbahiwe without any tangible evidence and facts?
Chief Egolu who was deeply troubled over the NUPI crisis lamented that it is Umuaka as a people that bear the brunt of the crisis and called on the committee to engage all the stakeholders as soon as possible in resolving the crisis.
“I dont belong to either TJ or Austin’s faction. I belong to the peace committee and all I want is peace.”
