Dr Ken Nnaka donates 33kVA transformer to Ndiuhu Achara community.

Residents of Ndiuhu Achara, Umuaka, in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, are set to experience improved electricity supply following the donation of a 33kVA transformer to the community by United States-based attorney, philanthropist and prominent Akalite, Dr Ken Nnaka. Nnaka disclosed the donation in a statement made available to Umuaka Times correspondents in the United States last week, explaining that the initiative was driven by his concern over the persistent electricity challenges confronting his community.
From a press statement Nnaka made available to Umuaka Times where he disclosed that the new transformer cost approximately ₦7 million, the device is intended to complement the existing electricity infrastructure and improve power supply to Ndiuhu Achara.
“It is one kVA transformer delivered today, September 14, 2026, which cost about ₦7 million. We need to upgrade and complement an existing one to ensure 24-hour supply of light, all for the enjoyment, development and progress of my Ndiuhu Achara Umuaka community,” Nnaka stated.
Nnaka lamented that the poor state of electricity supply in the community had been a source of concern to him and that he decided to intervene by providing the transformer. The donation was also documented in a video sent to Umuaka Times by Nnaka. The footage showed a trailer equipped with a crane unloading the transformer in the presence of community members near the Ndiuhu Achara Umuaka Hall.
The installation of the transformer is expected to follow shortly, with community members hopeful that the improved power infrastructure will enhance electricity supply ahead of the Christmas season. The initiative is also expected to support domestic, commercial and community activities by helping to address one of the longstanding infrastructure challenges facing Ndiuhu Achara.
