Duruji, Girls Technical schools win NUPI football tournament.

The football tournament among all the secondary schools in Umuaka which was organized by New Umuaka Project Initiative NUPI has come to a successful end. The tournament which came in two categories among female footballers in one category and male footballers in another category lasted for over a period of two weeks at Hilltop Primary School Uba Umuaka.
All the secondary schools in Umuaka Municipal Council both public and private schools took part in the tournament which at the end of the soccer event, showcased new talents in the game of football after several prizes were won.
Duruji and High School Umuaka played a goalless draw and at last, penalty shootout was fixed for them. Duruji won by 4-2 after the penalty shootouts and went home with the cup for males’ category. Girls Technical School and Ugbele Akah Secondary School also ended in a goalless draw and after penalty shootouts, Technical School won by 3 goals against Ugbele Akah that scored only 1 goal. Girls Technical School also went home with the cup for the female category.
Comrade Okenwa Chidubem, the Director of Sports of NUPI who played an active role during the tournament, disclosed to Umuaka Times that from the first day the football tournament began, the cooperation among schools, students and their footballers was highly commendable. He thanked the staff and students of all the schools that participated in the games.
