Last week, the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly  kicked off in New York with several world leaders in attendance. The meeting which started on Tuesday September 21 will be rounded up on Thursday 30th September 2021.

As the meeting was going on in New York with world leaders in attendance, there was also another group of world leaders who gathered across many countries of the world to chart a universal new cause for the benefit of humanity. The International Organization of United Nations Volunteers IOUNV, just like the UN General Assembly, gathered its members across the world as they marked their 8th anniversary of successful existence and meaningful strides.

The event which was celebrated across Africa and beyond was also celebrated in Nigeria, the home country of the founder, Ambassador Meshiyach Cosmos Yahzitere Okoh, a Port Harcourt based high profile Akalite.

From what Umuaka Times gathered, the volunteers who marked the event held elaborate ceremonies in Nigeria, Morocco, Chad, India, Pakistan, Palestine, Libya, South Africa and Benin Republic. Others countries where the event was also marked were, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Liberia, Ghana and Sri Lanka.

The volunteers designed many banners, effigies and paintings in order to drive home their messages of love and care. Several social media outlets including digital platforms were all adored last week by several artworks made by the volunteers. An Umuaka Times reporter who monitored the events across nations observed that new members who felt the need for the expansion of the volunteer services the IOUN Volunteers offers, obtained forms and joined the group. At the end of the program, each group in each country, deeply emphasized on the need for every community across the globe to have volunteer services mechanism. In some countries, the Volunteers embarked on some social services by visiting some persons living with disabilities as well as some orphanages.

In a press statement which was issued and made available to newsmen,

by the founder of the organization during the event, Ambassador Meshiyach Cosmos Yahzitere Okoh thanked the volunteers for their resilience and dedication in their collective bid to create helping hands across the globe.

The 8th anniversary celebration of  the International Organization of United Nations Volunteers IOUNV was a huge global success which turned out to demonstrate a new beginning for a new world especially in the fights against racism, climate change and Covid19.
